Snooker — Quick Rules
Overview
- Fifteen reds (1 point each), six colours (2–7), and a cue ball on a 12×6 ft table (smaller club tables exist).
- Players alternate potting a red then a nominated colour until reds are gone; then colours in order: Yellow (2), Green (3), Brown (4), Blue (5), Pink (6), Black (7).
Break‑Off & Play
- From the ‘D’, strike a red from the break‑off. After potting a red, nominate a colour; potted colours are re‑spotted until the reds are gone.
- Call ‘free ball’ may apply after a foul‑and‑a‑miss leaves a total snooker; nominated free ball counts as 1 if potted as a red.
Fouls & Miss
- Common fouls: failing to strike a ball‑on first; no ball reaches a cushion after contact when required; cue ball off table; potting a non‑on ball.
- ‘Foul and a miss’: if a player could have reached the ball‑on but didn’t, the referee may call a miss; opponent may request the shot be replayed from the original position.
End of Frame
- After all reds are gone and colours cleared in order, the higher score wins. Tied frames may use a re‑spotted black.
